Two souls coexisted within the genius of Salvador Dalí: one revolutionary, the other deeply rooted in the great tradition of painting. The volume, edited by Lucia Moni and Carme Ruiz, with scientific supervision by Montse Aguer, presents a close dialogue with art history, counterpointed by a comparison with Pablo Picasso, an emblem of revolution and modernity. Dalí. Revolution and Tradition also explores the artist’s relationship with the masters who most deeply influenced his vision—Velázquez, Vermeer, and Raphael, his favourite painters—highlighting how his pursuit of technical perfection and formal harmony intertwines with surrealist irreverence and a constant drive toward innovation. Alongside masterpieces inspired by the great artists of the past, the volume also features a selection of illustrations for the book 50 Secrets of Magic Craftsmanship, a testament to Dalí’s profound reflections on art, technique, and creation.
